What is grief?

Grief  is the "constellation of internal thoughts and feelings you have when you lose someone you have come to love and value." - Alan Wolfelt

Grief involves many different emotions such as shock, confusion, anger, fear, denial,  and sadness. The feelings and emotions experienced following the death of a baby are unique to each person.

Mourning is the "outward expression of your grief.  It is the releasing of your grief." - Alan Wolfelt.

Mourning can involve crying, sharing the story of your baby, sharing the hopes and dreams you had for your baby, rituals, creating memorials, funerals, and journalling thoughts and feeling.

Both grieving and mourning are equally important as you journey through the pain of your baby's passing.
